Sorry for missing yesterday. We had a busy day. In the morning we took a cab to this store (I forget the name) but similar to Macy's. There was this huge crowd waiting for the store to open and our guides said it was because there was a big sale that day - lucky us! It was a mad house just like the day after Thanksgiving. We just bought Anna a couple of outfits. She's so tiny that most of the clothes I brought are too big. In the evening we caught a flight to Guangzhou. It was less than an hour and Anna did fine (so did I, in case you were wondering). We are staying at the White Swan Hotel which is famous in the Chinese Adoption process. This morning Anna had a medical exam. You can see from these pictures how much she enjoyed that.

Guangzhou - Medical Exam Day
We had a little scare during the exam. Anna was crying so hard she was holding her breath and her little lips started turning blue so they rushed us off into a secondary exam area where they checked her for a heart murmur. Luckily, she stopped crying enough that the doctor could hear her heart and all checked our o.k. We'll try to take more pictures of Shamian Island which is where the hotel is located. It is beautiful. No smog. Great weather - mid to high 70's. And the best part is that everyone speaks English.

She wakes up so happy.
Our wonderful guides, Cindy, Jane and Amanda. They were the best.
Anna, Juliana Zia and Jossie - the Guigang Girls all from the same orphanage. Anna seems to be the runt of the group.
The clinic was very busy with other groups and their children.
Getting acquainted
Hating it. She weighs 15.5 lbs. TINY!
We ran into our friends from San Diego - Kim, Joe and JJ.

John and Lisa,
Anna is small but she will thrive once you get her home. It's amazing how resilient kids can be and the stuff their little bodies overcome. Briana was small too and ate non-stop for the first month...And I mean she ate and ate and ate. The doctor told us to just let her eat. She was 13 mos and eating like an adult. She would eat a grand-slam breakfast like there was no tomorrow.
Anna will do great once you get her back to San Diego and in the fresh air.
I felt so lost not hearing from you. :-) I'm glad to hear the medical exam went well. I can't believe you will be home in a few more days. I can't wait to see her!
Send more pics! I love seeing how well she is bonding with you. It all looks so natural.
Everyone is so happy and excited for you at work. Everyday I give everyone the new updates.
Take Care - Rebecca
I can't believe I beat Donna & Ric. :-)
Glad to see that you finally posted. Ric and I were starting to have a worry ;o) [He must've called me like 3 or 4 time today]
I'm in the middle of packing for my 'mini vacation away from home'. I'll let you know how your other baby is doing once I get him home.
Yes, I can't believe I kept calling Donna. I left her a message and said "I have a worry". Love the pics!
Love,
Ric
